Lots and lots of pictures to showcase how I've spent my CNY. This year's CNY was/is pretty nostalgic seeing how it's the CNY before I head overseas. Yes, it's been confirmed! I'm going abroad!
But I'll probably explain more in detail about my medical journey in another post. ![]()
Started the new year a little differently this year. We wanted to fill our family photo frames so my sis gave us all a mini individual photo shoot in the morning! After wishing everyone happy chinese new year of course!
I probably should start putting on some makeup..
Then it was the ang pao giving/taking time! We had to say a phrase in Hokkien to our parents in order to receive our packets! >.<
You can tell who's the better photographer of the family! hahaha I took such a lousy shot of my sis! Sorry sis..
Nah I linked your blog so forgive meeee! ![]()
My brother struggling to come up with some Hokkien phrase I think.. ![]()
We had a group photo shoot with our new CNY clothes after that! I love how vibrant the colours look! hehe
Our baby brother all grown up! Only 15 and already taller than us!! ![]()
Then we had our customary CNY mee suah that my mum makes every year without fail!!! It comes with meatballs and a whole hard boiled egg and we also have to take this sweet tea so that our year will be filled with sweetness? It sounds a lot better in Chinese!
Sigh, I'm gonna miss this so much when I go abroad..
*takes a moment to dwell*
Sooo after lunch, we started our journey back to my mum's hometown in Taiping! Lucky for us, there wasn't a jam! Phew!
Had an #ootd photo shoot right when we arrived cause the setting was just… so right!!
Will put up more pictures in a separate post!
My Ah Ma in her heyday! She looks like one of those actresses in the 60's, right??
And my Ah Gong! My sis put up a picture of him on Instagram and someone commented that he looked like such a stud back then! hahaha! That's where my momma got her good looks! ![]()
Ah Ma and Ah Gong a few years back!
Curry chicken my mum cooked for dinner!
And nasi kunyit!!! which I super duper loveee!
Basically day 1 in Taiping was mostly eat-your-heart-out day!
Actually nahhh who am I kidding, the WHOLE CNY period was eat-your-heart-out-day!!
But what we mainly did on day 1 was e a t…
Hawker food in Taiping is like no other! Not only are the prices halved compared to KL, the wan tan mees are tossed way up into the air!!
Here's another picture!! I wonder if it gets contaminated by floating particles high up in the air while being tossed.. #ocd hahaha
My brother isn't really a big fan of Asian food (he's at that age where he mostly eats Western food if he gets a choice.. except for Pan Mee.. Somehow, he has a strange strange love/addiction to chilli pan mee..
) but after he saw this guy with the wan tan mee, he was like "I'm ordering that!! I bet noodles tossed that high would taste good!" ![]()
And it was YUMMY!! Looks good too right?
LOBAK!! Omg, I love this so so so so much!! ![]()
![]()
Looking at this again is making me hungry!!
Satay at rm0.60 a stick..
And Hong Kong chee cheong fun!! Another one of my favourites!
Chicken chop at rm7.50. Who'd knew?! ![]()
And while we were walking back to our car, we passed by a Lok-lok van and thought, why not?? hahaha! And round 2!
Not sure if I've been living under a rock, but I never knew that you could dip the food they have into flour to fry them.. I only know about the boiling water!
My pretty mama!
And that basically wrapped up day 1 of my CNY!
Will be back with more!
