Taiping Part 2

Day 2 [16th February Tuesday]

IMG_1197

Got up really early [8am kind of early!] and washed up. Then off we went for a morning walk to the market. I love going to the market in Aulong! The atmosphere, the cheap food, the friendly people.. What’s not to love?

Now if you ever go to the morning market in Aulong, this Wan Tan Mee is a must try! The noodle’s so springy! blushblush[2]

Uhuh, that was how much food we had!

So after the heavy breakfast, we walked back home. Then we prepared all the necessary items to bring to the Old Folks Home. Every year, some of my relatives will go to the Old Folks Home and Orphanage in Taiping to give out items such as ang paos, packets of rice, bathing soap, toothbrush and toothpaste and etc. So this year, my family decided to join in for a change as we were also back in Taiping. blush[2]

My uncle giving out red packets!

After doing our part [which was wishing them a happy new year and giving out items], we went to the Orphanage which was just next door.

All ready to help out! =D 2[2]

Queuing up for their turn..

IMG_1296

Aiyo, this boy, future Bollywood actor la! I can see the potential in him! =p[2]

IMG_1304

IMG_1309I hope we managed to make their day. blushblush[2] The visit made me realise how fortunate we actually are and that I shouldn’t take what I have for granted. I’m gonna try to live everyday like there’s no tomorrow! And to be grateful for what I have; a loving family and good friends. blush[2]

IMG_1311

After a tiring day, [did I mention the weather in Taiping was extremely hot??!!] we went to have Cendol! If you’re ever in Taiping, go to this restaurant! It has the best Cendol!! =D 2[2]

IMG_1313 IMG_1317 IMG_1329

Look at that! Gosh, this picture’s making my mouth water. Every time I go back to my hometown, I’ll make my parents take me here. =p[2]

IMG_1331

Their Pasembor is also a must try. wink[2]

IMG_1332

Look how crowded it was? They didn’t even have enough serving bowls that day!

Oh and a really unfortunate event happened that day. As we were driving to somewhere [I can’t remember to where.. -.-'[2] ], my aunt’s car got into an accident.. =(([2] But thank God, no one was hurt.

IMG_1333

We weren’t suppose to make a turn but seeing how all of us were from out of town, we didn’t realise and weren’t familiar with the road. While my aunt was making the turn, another car hit the back of her car.

IMG_1340

The other driver didn’t want to settle it on the road so we went to the nearest police station to lodge a report first. When we arrived at the Balai Polis Pokok Assam [Yes, there’s a place in Taiping called Pokok Assam.. ], the policeman told us we had to lodge a report in the branch which handles traffic.

IMG_1345

So off we went to the main branch to lodge a report. Hopefully everything turns out alright for my aunt.

IMG_1350

That day, we had dinner at this place where hawker stalls all gather.

IMG_1351

Can Taiping food get any cheaper?

A glass of fruit juice is like rm1.60!! And it’s the freshly squeezed kind! O.O[5]

IMG_1352Throughout my stay in Taiping, I think I had lobak for about 4-5 times??? But there was this stall that sold really good ones. But the camera died so I couldn’t get shot of it. -.-'[2]

Three generations. blushblush[2]

IMG_1363

After dinner, we went to Lake Garden for a walk to digest off the food. The adults stood around the playground to chit chat while the younger ones were running around. Heh..

IMG_1406

My favourite ride in the playground is the swing. blush[2] I like it when the wind blows your hair.. Heehee.. *unleash little girl mode*

Day 3 [17th February Wednesday]

Woke up much later on the last day in Taiping and had lunch at home. Mummy did the cooking this time. blushblush[2] After lunch, we had another gambling session. This time, all of us were in it even my 12 year old brother. -.-'[2] But it was really fun, partly because I won money =D 2[2] but mainly cause it was also some sort of bonding session. [It was nice seeing my grandparents so happy! blush[2] ] Then in the evening, we headed back home to KL. The dreaded car ride!! But thank God we arrived home safely.

All in all, it was a good CNY spent. I felt closer to my relatives as I haven’t been back to my hometown for CNY for some time. So it was good to celebrate it in Taiping this year. Looking forward to another celebration over there next year! wink[2]
